LGBTQ+ History Month

The AUA proudly supports and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community.

We celebrate and value the diversity of our higher education community and recognise the invaluable contribution that every individual brings. We are committed to actively championing an inclusive professional culture, where equality and diversity is promoted and valued, and the rights and dignity of all are respected.

February is LGBT+ History Month, and this year, the theme is ‘#BehindTheLens‘ and it celebrates LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film from behind the lens. LGBT+ History Month is an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come in higher education and how we can renew our efforts to create a more equal higher education experience for LGBT people.

On this webpage, you can learn more about the LGBTQ+ equality movement by exploring curated links to resources, national events throughout the year and signing up for our LGBTQ+ event.

Understanding and enhancing the LGBTQ+ staff and student experience

As part of LGBTQ+ History Month, we have asked Sean Russell, Founder of Get Out Stay Out to run this brand new webinar. This workshop is designed to give participants the chance to ask questions and share ideas in a safe space where relevant curiosity is welcomed. Find out more and book here.
