The workshop will conclude by providing strategies for optimizing your job applications to increase your chances of being shortlisted.

Why attend?

A career as a Higher Education professional can be immensely rewarding and offers diverse opportunities, but career paths are not always clear. This workshop is designed to empower you to navigate your HE career journey with confidence, whether you’re considering opportunities within your current institution or looking to explore roles in different organisations.

What you will do:

During this workshop, you will actively engage in a structured process to plan your career steps. This will begin with an assessment of your strengths and transferable skills, enabling you to write a brief personal profile. We will discuss why visibility is crucial and how to achieve it within the HE sector. You will have the opportunity to articulate your short-term career goals and identify roles that align with your unique abilities and values. The workshop will also cover the essentials of job applications, including what to consider, what to include, and strategies for maximising your chances of getting shortlisted.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Summarise their strengths and transferable skills, developing a short personal profile
  • Recognise the significance of visibility in the Higher Education sector and employ strategies to enhance their professional presence
  • Articulate their own short-term career goals and identify the types of role that align with their unique attributes and personal values.
  • Evaluate job applications with precision, knowing what elements to emphasise and how to maximise their chances of being shortlisted for roles within the Higher Education sector.
