Andrew Cooper

Lead Consultant

Andrew has spent 35 years in Higher Education, from Lecturer to Professor and Dean, with research into the cultural politics of language theory and publications on co-creative design of applied learning opportunities for students with industry and third sector organisations. Two thirds of his career has been devoted to senior leadership and management positions at School, Faculty and University level, where he has focused on innovation and change management built around students as active partners in new forms of collaboration between academic departments and professional services. This included a pivotal role in planning and then running a new campus at Media City in Salford, creating a vibrant trans-disciplinary portfolio of teaching, research and enterprise across the creative and digital media spectrum in collaboration with global, national, and hyperlocal industries. These successes informed an approach to work-based learning founded upon new ways of working with professional services and external partners, effectively developing a model that constantly seeks to maximise the creative ‘white water’ energy of next generation talent.

Andrew joined the Board of Edge Hill University as an Independent Governor in September 2024, and he has also recently taken up a role as Quality Assessor with the Office for Students.
