Chef – Hospitality & Events (Catering)

The University of Chester is looking for a skilled Chef to join our friendly Hospitality & Events team at Exton Park.

This is a hands-on kitchen role where you’ll work closely with the Kitchen Co-ordinator and the wider catering team to prepare and serve a range of fresh dishes every day. Our catering service supports students, staff, and visitors, and prides itself on delivering consistently high standards – from day-to-day service to large-scale events.

What you’ll be doing:

Preparing and cooking fresh, quality food to a high standard

Working with the Kitchen Co-ordinator to plan daily requirements

Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACCP, COSHH, and health & safety standards

Supporting the team with menu planning, stock checks, and food service

Delivering excellent customer service, working flexibly to meet student and staff needs

Maintaining high standards in a busy, professional kitchen environment

What we’re looking for:

City & Guilds 706/1&2 or NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or equivalent)

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)

Experience in a professional kitchen environment

A calm, adaptable team player with great communication skills

Ability to stay positive and productive under pressure

Desirable extras include NVQ Level 3, Intermediate Food Hygiene, or experience in patisserie or competition work.
