Neal Chamberlain

Lead Consultant

Neal has worked as a Learning & OD consultant for the past eleven years, both in an external and internal capacity. Before becoming a consultant, Neal worked at director level in human resource management. He has experience in numerous sectors including higher education, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, R&D, civil engineering, FMCG, charity and arts.

Neal established his own consultancy business from 2014 – 17, before this led to him being asked to join the University of Manchester, where he has worked for the past eight years in the capacity of Lead Learning & OD Partner for staff development. In this role he has provided internal consultancy to Faculties and PS Directorates, as well as co-designing and co-delivering leadership and management programmes for managers, leaders and senior leaders, as well as co-designing and coordinating an Open Programme of personal effectiveness courses for staff. He has also contributed to Staff development Forum (SDF) events across HEIs, and to the promotion of AHEP.

Neal has worked as a Non-Executive Director with Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, and with Manchester Camerata chamber orchestra.

Neal’s consulting approach is to seek to build a strong, trusted connection with the client, using his experience base to offer insights into current challenges and to use a collaborative approach in reaching an agreed way forward, with the client remaining firmly in the driving seat at all times.

In 2025, Neal returned to external consultancy, helping organisations achieve sustainable success through leadership development, organisational change, and team effectiveness.
