Karen Heard-Laureote

Lead Consultant

Karen Heard-Laureote has worked in Higher Education since completing her PhD in 2005. She began in her original field of European Politics and Public Policy before transitioning into education, earning the title of Professor of Education and Society in 2018, and Professor of Learning and Teaching in 2019. Since 2019, Karen has held senior leadership roles, including Director of Learning and Teaching and Vice Provost Education. She is now an independent education consultant.

Karen holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and became a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) in 2016, in recognition of her strategic leadership in teaching and learning. She is also a Fellow of the Leadership Foundation and, in 2018, was awarded the prestigious National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) for her excellence in teaching. In 2024, she became a Senior Fellow of SEDA and an AHEP Fellow.
