Steven Altham appointed North Wales and North West Deputy Network Coordinator
Steven Altham has been appointed the new Deputy Network Coordinator for the North Wales and North West region. We asked Steven to share a little about himself.
Steven’s background
I came to Liverpool John Moores University in 2005, and 14 years later I am still here! I have had a few roles over that time, all linked to student professional development. I have worked with many professional services during my time in HE, including school office, careers service, student recruitment, teaching and learning and placement staff, giving me a good insight into ways in which the AUA could help support people in their roles, alongside the organisation as a whole.
I am currently Student Development Coordinator for the School of Law, a role which has seen me working towards supporting students in becoming future professionals, with a specific focus on developing their work based skills. This has put me in a great position to work with the AUA and their 9 professional behaviours. After completing an AUA CPD programme at LJMU, I gained Fellowship of the AUA, and in 2018 became an LJMU Advocate, and then a wider network AUA Advocate.
I have attended most of our network forums, delivered my own, and been a part of most North West & North Wales Cross Institutional Virtual Interactive Collaboration’s (CIVIC’s), creating and developing new ideas to enhance the AUA network. I’ve also had the pleasure (!) of dressing up as Santa and singing Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer several times on camera for the AUA North Wales and North West network.
Network developments
I look forward to working with the North West & North Wales Network Coordinator Simon Vaukins to develop both the current network and it’s Advocates, and the AUA offering to current and future members.
