About this Workshop

Why attend and what you will do:

This interactive online workshop is designed to introduce higher education professionals to the essentials of management; or how to be the personal best leader you can be. Our starting point will be to develop an understanding of self and who we want to be as leaders. The emphasis will be on reflective practice, self-awareness and doing dialogue. Developing a leadership style that supports the growth and development of your teams.

Participants will engage in activities to better understand themselves as managers and explore different leadership styles. You will leave the session with an action plan to support your growth and development as a higher education leader.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Reflective Practice: Explore the concept of reflective practice as a leadership skill and develop your reflective practice skills.
  • Self-Awareness: Explore the relationship between effective management and self-awareness. Understand how your leadership style, values, and motivations impacts team success.
  • Dialogue: Engage in meaningful conversations. Practice active listening, developing a coaching leadership style to foster collaboration, innovation, and positive change.

This workshop most closely aligns to Empowering Professional Development, by encouraging participants to take the lead on preparing for and engaging in their own appraisal or annual review. It also relates to Focusing on Results and Taking Accountability
